Layered Navigation Filters

MANAdev -> Layered Navigation

All store filters (filterable attributes and categories) are listed in MANAdev -> Layered Navigation menu and every filter can be customized there individually.

After clicking a filter in Layered Navigation filter list, new window opens with filter options.

General Information

  • Name - filter block label, which appears in frontend. Filter name also is used to build URL. Name could be set on store level. If `Use Attribute Configuration' is checked, attribute label will be used.

  • In Category - to show or hide filter block in Layered Navigation on category pages. This parameter also used for Layered Navigation on CMS pages or in Shop By Brand MANAdev extension. This parameter overrides Use In Layered Navigation value, which is set for attribute.

    • No - filter will not be shown in Category Layered Navigation
    • Filterable (with results) - filter is shown in Category Layered Navigation. However only options, where product are available will be listed for the filter.
    • Filterable (no results) - filter is shown in Category Layered Navigation. If filter is set as Filterable (no results), it will list all options, even no products are available now for specific option
  • In Search - to show or hide filter block in Layered Navigation on quick search pages. This parameter overrides Use in Search Results Layered Navigation value, which is set for attribute.

    • No - filter will not be shown in Quick Search Layered Navigation.
    • Filterable (with results) - filter is shown in Quick Search Layered Navigation. However only options, where product are available will be listed for the filter.
    • Filterable (no results) - filter is shown in Quick Search Layered Navigation. If filter is set as Filterable (no results), it will list all options, even no products are available now for specific option

Display Settings

  • Display parameter - here you can change filter appearance by choosing different template like text list or color picker.

    • Text (Multiple Select Enabled) - price ranges will be shown as a list. Few price ranges can be chosen at a time.

    • Text (One Item Can Be Selected At A Time) - price ranges will be shown as a list. Only one range can be chosen at a time.

    • Slider - range can be modified by dragging thumbs.

    • Min/Max Slider - range can be modified by dragging thumbs.

    • Range Inputs - min and max range values are edited manually.

  • Role in Min/Max Slider. Appears only when Display is set to Min/Max Slider. Min/Max Slider displays two attributes at once, so assign 'Minimum Value' role to one filter , 'Maximum Value' role to other filter.

  • Minimum Value Attribute. Appears only when Display is set to Min/Max Slider and Role in Min/Max Slider - to Maximum Value. Parameter stores reference to filter with 'Minimum Value' role.

  • Position - filter position. Filters with lower position will be highest on the Layered Navigation.

  • Reverse Mode. If enabled, shows all options as selected and allows user to deselect items he/she is not interested in.

  • Filterable (no results) Links Are Not Clickable. If filter is set as Filterable (no results), it will list all options, even if no products are available. This parameter makes such options non clickable.

    For example, field Use In Layered Navigation is set to Filterable (no results) for filter "Type":

    In layered navigation, options without available products will be non clickable, if this parameter is set to Yes:

Decimal Value Formatting

The section appears only for Price filter or any other attribute of price type.

  • Number Format - the way of showing numbers on price slider. 0 will be replaced by actual number; all other characters will be displayed as entered.

    For example, if number format will be set to EUR 0, then price slider will look like:

  • Digits After the Decimal Point - how many digits will be shown after decimal mark. Leave empty or 0 to round to whole numbers.

    For example, if number 2 will be set as value for the parameter, then price slider will look like:

  • Use Second Number Format If Value Is Greater Than. Together with next parameter lets to set another visualization for all slider values greater than the value of this parameter. Leave empty or 0 to use basic Number Format above for all values.

  • Second Number Format - second format of showing slider number values. Only applicable for values greater than parameter specified above. 0 will be replaced by actual number divided by the parameter specified above; all other characters will be displayed as entered.

  • Digits After the Decimal Point (for Second Format) - how many digits will be shown after decimal mark, when the value is shown in second number format. Leave empty or 0 to round to whole numbers.

    HINT: Second number format can be used to set up scale of different units of measurement, for example, to have length slider from 1 cm to 10 m or capacity from 256 GB to 2 TB.

    To set up capacity slider which will show values in GB and TB like in example above, take the following steps:

    1. Capacity attribute, should be described as Price input type.

      Go to menu Catalog -> Attributes -> Manage Attributes -> [attribute] and check if attribute is of Price type:

    2. Capacity attribute value for product should be set in smaller unit of measurement (GB).

      Go to menu Catalog -> Manage Products -> [product] and set up the value for Capacity attribute. For 2 TB HDD, 2000 should be indicated as capacity attribute value:

    3. For Capacity Layered Navigation filter, first number format should be 0 GB, second - 0 TB. Multiplier between two units of measurement is 1000.

      Go to menu MANAdev -> Layered Navigation -> [filter] and set up slider number formats:

  • Allow Customers to Enter Range Manually - if set to Yes, customer can modify the range limits manually:

  • Slide Only Through Existing Values - if set to Yes, it will be possible to select range limits only if the value exists for some product:

  • Show Thousand Separator - if set to Yes, thousand separator will be shown, if the value is greater than 1000:
